The Nepal Automobile Dealers’ Association (NADA) has strongly objected to recent media reports, calling them misleading and factually incorrect. The organization stated that all of its decisions and activities are carried out strictly in line with prevailing laws, its statute, and institutional procedures.

According to NADA, its central executive committee, in meetings held on Bhadra 3 and 8, 2082, resolved to seek a clear mandate from its members through a Special General Assembly regarding the proposal to transform NADA into a federation for long-term institutional strengthening.

The association emphasized that members’ voting rights remain intact in this process, dismissing claims that the decision was unlawful or an attack on NADA’s integrity as “entirely false.”

While the Kathmandu District Administration Office had initially directed the association to postpone the Special General Assembly following complaints, NADA clarified that after reviewing documents and receiving explanations from the association, the office lifted the suspension through a letter dated Bhadra 18, 2082. The letter confirmed that NADA retains the authority to hold general assemblies—annual or special—and make necessary institutional decisions in accordance with its statute and the law.

NADA further denied accusations of leadership manipulation or term extension. The organization reiterated that leadership changes will only take place through elections in the general assembly, with direct participation and voting by members.

“I have no personal interest in clinging to the presidency,” said NADA President Karan Kumar Choudhary, stressing that he is prepared to call an annual general assembly with elections and hand over leadership immediately if stakeholders agree. “NADA belongs to all automobile entrepreneurs. It is not a platform for personal interests, and its leadership will always be determined through democratic processes,” he added.

The association called on members, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders not to be swayed by “misleading news or misinterpretations,” and instead to trust NADA’s official communications and democratic process. With the District Administration Office’s clearance, the association confirmed that its upcoming Special General Assembly will take place as scheduled.
